As many players make their fashion through the critically acclaimed campaign for the offset time, others hover in lobbies like vultures, looking for endgame challenge as a living miniboss. Taking on the guise of Julianna, the nemesis of Deathloop protagonist Colt, they're planted into levels aslope NPCs. Their chore is to kill the hero before he kills an important enemy graphic symbol - or failing that, earlier he slips away into the tunnels beneath Blackreef, the blasted island where the aforementioned day repeats again and once more.

The latter initially sounds very powerful, until y'all beginning to remember about information technology. Nominally, it allows you to hibernate in patently sight past taking the face of another nearby graphic symbol, hoodwinking the Filly actor into thinking y'all're non Julianna. Brilliant. Except that, from Colt's perspective, there isn't a single NPC in a level who isn't an enemy. They're all targets.

The aim is to play tricks your opponent into responding to you every bit a regular NPC - i of many threats to factor into their movements - rather than an intelligent enemy who should exist their sole focus. By the time they realise they've underestimated you, information technology'due south besides late.

All this is merely the dorsal fin poking above the surface of a way that is fathoms deep. Many invaders won't even bear on Masquerade. Some will simply set the phase for the mother of all shootouts. The geography around each level's antenna - which Filly needs to hack before he can escape you lot - becomes your backyard in the way a Phone call of Duty map might, a favoured battleground you know Colt will eventually show upwardly to. And you can always autumn back on camping at the exit, except - twist - in that location's more than than one.
